Hyderabad, WINGS INDIA 2024 has started at Begumpet Airport. Telangana is the talk of the town at Asia’s largest airshow in Hyderabad. Let us know what the priorities and further plans regarding aviation in the state are. First of all dignitories from Telangana Govt expressed thanks to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India & FICCI for giving Hyderabad the privilege of hosting the largest Civil Aviation Air show WINGS INDIA 2024 and the Global Aviation Summit 2024. Both these events will give Hyderabad / Telangana great opportunity to showcase aviation resources of Telangana and Capital city Hyderabad to the Aviation industry, as the most vibrant ecosystem in India for Aviation and Aerospace.

It is well aware that Telangana is the fastest growing State in India. Telangana stood top of World Bank’s Ease of Doing business. Hyderabad is consistently ranked the ‘Most Liveable City in India’ by Mercer. In view of these circumstances, a favorable environment has also been created for the aviation industry in Telangana and Hyderabad. Aviation and Aerospace is a thrust sector for Telangana Government.During the previous editions of WINGS in 2018 and 2020, 2022 Telangana has won the Best State Award for the State with most progressive outlook on the Sector. We may recall that Telabgaba was among the first States to slash the VAT on ATF from 16% to 1% setting an example for other States.

Primary Airport in Hyderabad, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is consistently awarded Best it its Class. Recent expansion of airport from 1 Lakh 20 thousand area to 3 lakh 80 thousand area and passenger capacity of 40 million per year.

In line with the theme “Connecting India to the world in Amrit Kaal” The Telangana Govt is aggressively working on three green field Airports and revival of three brownfield Airports in Telangana.

A. Green field Airports
1. Bhadradri Kothagudem
2. Jakaranpally. Nizamabad District
3. Gudibanda Village, Adakkal Mandal, Mahabubnagar

B. Brown Field Airports
1) Mammnoor Village, Warangal Urban Dist
2) Basanthnagar, Peddapally Dist
3) Adilabad District

In the first phase Telangana have already initiated the work on warangal ( Mamnoor) airport and Adilabad airport

Sea Planes

The State Govt has proposed a water aerodrome in Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and pre- feasibility report is completed by AAI. The Government is also evaluating other waterbodies for creating water aerodromes.

Helipads
Government of Telangana has a pioneered in connecting all districts and is the first state in the country to create permanent helipads in each district headquarters at district collectorate complexes in Telangana.

Heli-tourism
The Telangana State Aviation Corporation limited and Tourism Department Government of Telangana is successfully conducting joy rides at various place in the Telangana state and recently conducted in hyd city, vemulvada and is all geared up for conducing joy rides in Mulugu district for Medaram Jathara ( Asia’’s biggest tribal festival )

Air Ambulance :
Hyderabad is the most sought of city for medical facilities and almost 50 % of the air ambulance services in country operate to Hyd transferring patients to most advanced hospitals in the city
FTO ( Flying Training Organization )

• The Telangana State Aviation Academy has impart training to 135 Commercial Pilots, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with MSc Aviation and Drone Pilots.
• we have trained 430 Drone Pilots and issued the licenses/ certificates and most of them are employed.
Drones
• Telangana is the first State to come up with its own Drone policy to develop an ecosystem for the drone/ UAV industry. The State Government is actively working with start-ups and industry partners to pilot drone usage in Healthcare, Agriculture, Mining, Law enforcement etc.
• Government of Telangana in partnership with World economic Forum had launched the “Medicine from sky project wherein Drones are used for Medicine and organ delivery.
Aerospace & Defence
• Aerospace, Defence and Space industries are thrust sectors for Telangana State. The industries department and TSIIC has developed several Aerospace parks to host manufacturing, servicing, engineering, training and allied firms.
• The State industrial policy TS iPASS is hailed as the most industry friendly policy by industry that offers customised tailor made policies for mega projects and unmatched facilitation for industrial and allied investments.
• Leading Original Equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, GE Aviation, Airbus, Safran Elbit etc has established their manufacturing base in Telangana.
• Safran has announced that their largest LEAP Engine MRO globally, with an investment of Rs 1500 Cr will be coming up in Hyderabad- This is the first Engine OEM MRO investment in the country and also largest MRO related investment announced so far.
• Leading local MSMEs are today part of tier 1 /tier 2 supply chains of global OEMs such as Boeing, Airbus, Rolls Royce, Thales, Eton, GE Aviation Dassualt Aviation, Mitsubishi etc.
• The State has hosted innovation and acceleration programmes for global OEMs such as Boeing, Pratt and Whitney , Colins Aerospace etc at T-hub, the State promoted Innovation hub.
• On the Space front, we have made great progress with promoting MSMEs and private sector Space startups. Two of our promising space start-ups Skyroot Aerospace and Dhruva Aerospace have made the Country proud with the first ever successful private sector space launch as well multiple satellite launches into Space.
• With a thriving industrial ecosystem and strong policy support offered by the State, Hyderabad is today the most preferred Aerospace investment destination in the country today.
