“World over Public Transport is getting priority. But it’s shocking that a country like ours with 140 crore people is lagging behind in Public Transport area. While 85% of the passenger moment in India is managed by a Private Operator, there is a lack of awareness, infrastructure, regulatory framework and more. Bus & Car Operators Confederation of India has more than 20,000 members through its network of associations in 36 States & UTs, and we demand that the sector should get Industry Status, Priority Funding, World-class infrastructure, taxation relief, Uniform regulations and priority for Passenger Transport. Through Prawaas 3.0 we are getting all those matters for Public Transport onto a single platform so that we can create a better roadmap for the growth of this sector”, said Shri Prasanna Patwardhan, President, Bus & Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI).
