The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, recently convened a workshop on the Land Acquisition (LA) process and introduced the ‘Bhoomi Rashi Portal’ at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, on February 26, 2024.

The primary objective of this workshop was to streamline the Land Acquisition process for highway development projects in Telangana State, aiming to expedite land acquisition procedures and ensure the timely completion of highway development ventures in the region.

The Union Government has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to infrastructure development in Telangana by actively working to conclude various projects within specified timelines. Notably, since 2014, the Government of India has initiated several highway development projects through NHAI, collectively valued at over Rs. 34,000 Cr in Telangana.

Key figures such as Shri SK Razzak Ji, Chief General Manager & Regional Officer of NHAI, Hyderabad, Shri Abhay Jain Ji, Deputy Secretary (Land Acquisition) from MoRT&H New Delhi, Shri Vibhav Mittal, General Manager (Land Acquisition) from NHAI HQs, and Shri Rajesh Kumar, Joint Advisor (GIS) from NHAI HQs, actively participated in the workshop. They elaborated on the land acquisition process and provided insights into the functioning of the Bhoomi Rashi Portal to all participants. Notably, the enhanced Bhoomi Rashi Portal streamlines direct compensation payments for acquired land and enables landowners to track payment statuses and lodge grievances if necessary.

Throughout the workshop, detailed discussions were held on various issues impacting land acquisition, with the concerned authorities offering appropriate guidance and solutions to address these challenges effectively.

This initiative represents a significant stride towards expediting infrastructure development in Telangana and underscores the government’s dedication to facilitating sustainable progress in the region.
