Mithali Dorai Raj was born on 3 December 1982 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. In June 2018, she became the first Indian player to compete in the 2018 Women’s Asia Cup. She was also the first woman to score 2000 runs in T20 International cricket. And the first female cricketer to score 2000 runs in a WT20I match. Raj was the first woman to play 200 One-Day Internationals (ODIs). She declared her retirement from T20I cricket in September 2019 to focus on ODI cricket. She became the first woman to play 20 years of international cricket in 2019.

A feature film about Raj’s life is in the works after Viacom 18 motion pictures acquired the rights. Raj stated that she hopes her story will inspire more young women to pursue athletics as a career.

The biopic is in the works, with filming set to begin in 2019. Raj remarked “Priyanka Chopra, I believe, will be an excellent pick (to play me in the biopic). Our personalities have a lot in common. I’m not a movie buff, therefore I’d rather the professionals handle it.” However, it was eventually agreed that Taapsee Pannu will play Mithali Raj in the biography Shabaash Mithu. Rahul Dholakia was supposed to direct it in 2020, however, he dropped out.
