Celebrating a significant milestone, Meghalaya secured the second runners-up award at the ODOP Awards 2023 in a grand event organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This accolade highlights the State’s resolute commitment to advancing the One District One Product (ODOP) Initiative.

The Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav and National ODOP Awards ceremony, inaugurated by Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India, aims to applaud the exceptional efforts of states/UTs, districts, & Indian missions in realizing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through the ODOP initiative.

Shri Conrad K Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, expressed gratitude for the award, emphasizing its motivational impact on farmers and skilled artisans. The state’s success in the ODOP Awards is attributed to strategic initiatives, mission mode programs, unique brand creation, Geographic Indication (GI) tagging, and effective marketing strategies.

The state’s focus on building Agri-value chains, ensuring quality assurance, and fostering global collaborations has positioned its ODOPs on a global scale, with notable achievements such as successful exports of Khasi Mandarin to Dubai.
