Jayesh Ranjan & Akkineni Nagarjuna Unveil The HPS Begumpet Centenary Logo

The HPS Begumpet Centenary Logo: The Hyderabad Public School, one of the best educational institutions in the country, launched The HPS, Begumpet Centenary Logo and released the year-long calendar of the Centenary Celebrations at a press conference held at the Turner Library of the iconic Jagirdars Block built in 1923.

The Chief Guests at the press conference were Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary for Information Technology, Electronics and Communication and Industries and Commerce Departments, Government of Telangana; and Mr. Akkineni Nagarjuna, Actor and Film Producer, an alumnus of HPS from the batch of 1976. The event was presided by Mr. Gusti Noria, President, The Hyderabad Public School Society, accompanied by Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat, Principal, HPS, Begumpet and Mr. R. Raghuram Reddy, Vice-Chairman, Board of Governors of The Hyderabad Public School. The press conference was also attended by the Members of the Managing Committee of The HPS Society, the Board of Governors of HPS and the Centenary Celebrations organizing team comprising of alumni.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Jayesh Ranjan added, “Developing a plan for the next 50 years is not an easy task, but HPS has done this. I didn’t study here, but I studied in a very similar school in Lucknow. Therefore I am very happy to be here and see the remarkable achievements HPS has made. What’s more noteworthy is that a large number of students who study here come on scholarships – 1000 students every year. Recently the HPS also hosted the India Science Fest with which the centenary celebrations had kickstarted. It is not only academics but also the values that have made its legacy today.”

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Nagarjuna said, “I was overwhelmed by memories and emotions as we drove to HPS and as I walked up the stairs of the Jagirdar’s block. This school created personalities. It taught us attitude. It mentored us. HPS taught me confidence to face the world. I remember one incident – three of us at the school jumped the wall to pick gooseberries. We were sent to the Principal’s office. On the table there were three gooseberries. He gently said, ‘Next time just ask me.’ When shown kindness and given a chance – you will shine. There are many more examples like that. I am so happy and proud to be an alumnus of HPS. During my travels I end up meeting someone from HPS anywhere around the world doing brilliantly. Thank the faculty and congratulate HPS on their 2050 vision. Long live HPS.”

The Centenary Logo represents the inclusiveness and diversity at HPS; and the year-long Centenary Celebrations are to rejoice and be reminded of being the best and making the best”, said Mr. Gusti J. Noria, President of The HPS Society.

The visual identity for HPS Begumpet’s Centenary brings together its rich history, glorious present, and limitless future. A bold typeface communicates legacy and solidity, while the italicised styling and the school’s emblem – ‘Shaheen‘ – Eagle, in flight represent the institution’s ceaseless pursuit of progress and being vigilant (“Be Vigilant” being the School’s motto).

The numeral 100, commemorative of the centenary and the eagle, rising from the numeral, together declare that the School will never rest on its laurels and that there will always be new worlds to discover and conquer.

The colours in the logo, integral to the culture of the school, stand for its four houses, Nagarjuna (Red), Nalanda (Blue), Taxila (Green), Vijayanagar (Yellow). They reinforce the strong, lifelong loyalties that students, past and present, have developed for their respective houses.

The branding for the centenary has been conceptualized and developed pro bono by the Hyderabad-based Quicksilver Advertising. Quicksilver is headed by Dhananjay Ganesh, an alumnus of the School from the batch of 1992.
