Hyderabad, July-2023: The 9th edition of the International Pharmaceuticals Exhibition (IPHEX), a flagship event of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL) is been inaugurated with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India on 5th July 2023 at Hitex Exhibition Center, Hyderabad, India.

Addressing the inauguration, S.V. Veeramani, Chairman of Pharmexcil highlighted that Our Indian pharmaceutical industry has carved out unique distinction in reaching 200 countries in the world. He also stated that an increase in the exports from last year’s 25.39 billion dollars’ worth of pharma to the goal of 28 billion this year has been made possible due to good quality, reliable and affordable formulations, API, vaccines, Ayush, herbals and surgicals. Hence, Pharmaceutical is the 5th largest commodity group of all the commodities exported from India and it is considered among potential sectors by the Government of India. The event has nearly 400 exhibitors, 660 overseas visitors, 10000 viistors from India and overseas, buyer seller meets, CEO’S panel meet, quality complience, export opportunities with G20 countries and many more.

Ravi Uday Bhaskar, Director General of Pharmexcil stated that iPHEX in the initial days started as a business entity & meeting and now it is currently one of the biggest shows supported by the ministry of commerce in inviting the foreign delegates to showcase the capabilities of Indian Pharmaceutical industry and to provide a platform of business engagement with delegates. Of late, Pharmexcil started focusing on different engagement’s in addition to business meetings with the regulators , the FDA’s and discussions among the participants. With these new additions over 4500 delegates have participated from more than 100 countries, and more than 3500 people have exhibited their products.

Indian Pharmaceutical Industry has carved out a unique distinction in contributing substantially to the healthcare through the supply of quality, affordable generic medicines to nearly 200 countries and is popularly called “Pharmacy of the World”. You are also aware of that India exported 25.4 Bn USD during the FY 22-23.

Pharmexcil with the vision of access to quality and affordable generics globally the first IPHEX was organised in 2013 and hosted eight editions of IPHEX successfully at major cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Ahmedabad. For all the eight editions, a total of 4500 plus foreign delegates including Regulatory officials, public procurement agencies, journalists and importers from 120 plus countries, 3500 exhibitors and 1Lac plus visitors attended.

Unlike many international events, IPHEX is a niche event with exclusive one-to-one business meetings and deliberations with Government procurement agencies & Govt officials from NAFTA, EU, Africa, ASEAN, CIS, LAC and WANA regions. With over 4356+ members, PHARMEXCIL is mandated to help them achieve excellence in exports and facilitate overseas buyers to find suitable trade partners from the Indian pharma industry.

In addition to the Expo & Business meetings, a number of panel discussions on the below subjects are being planned.

Sri. Madan Mohan Reddy, Co-Chair, IPA International Trade Committee & Wholetime Director, Aurobindo Pharma, released a report on Market Access Barriers in the Pharmaceutical Sector in India’s Key Export Destinations developed by IPA, Pharmexcil, and ELP.

Dr.Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General of India, CDSCO, Government of India; Smt.Indu C.Nair, Joint Secretary, Dept. of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India; and Dr Lino Tom, Honourable Minister for Health, Papua New Guinea addressed the gathering.

Additionally, awards for outstanding export performance were presented.

Vote of thanks from Sri. Namit Joshi, Vice-Chairman of Pharmexcil, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a visit to the exhibition (showcasing Indian Pharma and Interactions at chosen stalls) marked the end of the event.
