Priyanka Gandhi Files Nomination For Wayanad Byelection

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra signed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok sabha byelection on wednesday joined by local leaders. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were also present.

After the roadshow, Priyanka Gandhi addressed the crowd, mentioning that she began participating in political campaigns in 1989 at the age of 17, helping her late father, Rajiv Gandhi. Speaking to a large crowd in Kalpetta before filing her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll, she reflected on 35 years of campaigning for her mother, Sonia Gandhi, her brother, Rahul Gandhi and other party members.

Following the Election Commission’s announcement of the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll last week, Priyanka Gandhi is set to make her electoral debut in Kerala, potentially entering Parliament five years after starting her political career. The Congress quickly named the 52 year old as its candidate for the seat.
