Hyderabad: If we talk about realty sector, Shri C Shekar Reddy is a big name. Shri Reddy has been the former National President of CREDAI, apart from being the CMD of CSR Estates Limited, he is also holding the responsibility of Chairman of CII- Indian Green Building Council. Shri Shekhar Reddy has traveled to many parts of the world and was recently stunned when he saw the ‘model of London city’ in the permanent exhibition hall of London’s built environment community (NLA). This model has been prepared on a scale of 1:2000, which is 12.5 meters long. It depicts the 34 kilometer long Thames river in detail. The 21 bridges built in the city have also been beautifully carved in the model.

This permanent exhibition in London is completely free and anyone can visit it from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm (London time) and understand the outline of London. Shri C Shekhar Reddy’s visit here during his stay in London filled him with curiosity. London is one of the few old cities which has been built and settled in a systematic manner.

Comparison of Hyderabad to London model
Being an enthusiastic engineer, corporate leader and realty expert, Shri C Shekhar Reddy started comparing the London model with that of Hyderabad. Can Hyderabad really be developed on the lines of London? This question kept flashing in his mind. According to Shekhar Reddy, the model of every metropolitan city including Hyderabad should be made on the lines of ‘NLA-London model’. In order to organize the city, private participation should be given as much priority as the participation of government undertakings. Especially with the participation of think tank organizations, the city can be made environment friendly, organized and advanced.

Poultary

Shri C Shekhar Reddy met Peter Murray, co-founder of this amazing exhibition model architecture, at NLA London itself. Under one roof in the exhibition hall, you can see every infrastructural part of the city in the form of a model. You can get information about where rivers, bridges and major buildings are located. For an engineer and realty businessman, seeing all this was no less than a thrill. If we look at the Linkedin profile of Mr. C. Shekhar Reddy, his intentions regarding the transformation of Indian cities are understandable. Shekhar Reddy wants to see Indian cities developed in accordance with the environment. As the National President of CREDAI, he use to gave suggestions to this effect from time to time to various governments. Shekhar Reddy’s dedication to sector reforms is still praised today. Especially on environmental issues he never compromised. He always paid attention to the demands of the consumers, so that the dream of affordable housing for the people could come true.

Can Hyderabad be developed on the lines of London?
After seeing the London model, a question will arise in your mind whether Hyderabad metropolis can be organized on the lines of London? This is possible only when the government prepares a long-term plan with private participation and implements it with full honesty. You will be surprised to know that London Infrastructure Plan 2050 is ready and it has been released in the year 2004 itself. Along with a strong infrastructure policy, changes are also being made in the plan from time to time as per the modern needs. Investment is also being done openly as per the plan. If a rapidly growing metropolis like Hyderabad is to be developed, a concrete plan is required.
