Marking a pivotal stride towards sustainability, the Power Department of the Meghalaya Government has partnered with ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd (OTPC) through the formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing ceremony, which took place in Shillong today, was graced by Shri A.T. Mondal, the Hon’ble Power Minister of Meghalaya, who highlighted the profound significance of this collaborative venture.

Prominent figures attending the ceremony included Shri Sanjay Goyal, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Power Department, Government of Meghalaya, and Shri Sanil Namboodiripad, Managing Director of OTPC. Stipulating a three-year timeframe, the MOU underscores the resolute commitment of both entities to tap into Meghalaya’s copious hydroelectric potential.

The signatories were accompanied by key members of the OTPC Team, featuring Mr. Arup Ch. Sarmah, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Mr. Shree Narayan, Chief Technical Officer (CTO), and Mr. Samarjeet Thakur, Head Corporate Affairs (C & M).

It reflects our persistent dedication to innovation and environmental consciousness as we strive to broaden our energy portfolio, ensuring reliability and sustainability in the long term.”The MOU delineates ambitious goals, including the development of a Pump Storage Hydro Power Project, large and small hydroelectric power projects, and avant-garde solutions like floating solar projects. Aligned with global renewable energy trends, these initiatives aim to fortify the power infrastructure in the region.
