Hyderabad: Increasing cases of Covid-19 in Hyderabad have left the common people a little scared. Most people are discussing its economic as well as social aspect. Apprehensions rises, Will there again be a recession in the business and corporate world and people will be in need of employment? Will software employees again be assigned work from home? Will the Congress government in Telangana impose strict restrictions which will make the life of common people uncomfortable. The biggest question among all- whether the year 2020-21 could revive with fear of Corona and the lockdown which earlier broken the backs of people.

Year 2020-21: activities came to standstill in Hyderabad IT Sector
Economic activities had come to a standstill during the peak of Corona in Hitech City and its adjoining areas, which are economically most developed in Western Hyderabad. Employees working in the corporate sector were made to sit at home for almost two years in the name of work from home. Even after the lockdown ended, software professionals continued to work from home for long periods. Later, the then IT Minister KTR had to appeal to the corporate world to end work from home and call the employees to office. So that the work of big shopping malls and small businessmen can run smoothly again.

Can lockdown be imposed again?
Taste of lockdown that India has experienced, Telangana or any state government cannot now take the risk of imposing a large-scale lockdown. The government will try to convince big corporates and especially the IT sector not to go for work from home again. Since due to employees leaving the state, not only does the government suffer loss of revenue, but it also has a very negative impact on the earnings of small businessmen in the market. Overall, the work from home situation hinders the progress of the state. Although many questions are rising in the minds of people, government representatives and experts are repeatedly saying that there is no need to panic, there is just a need to take precautions. The reality is also that it will be very difficult for the government to take a decision like closure again. Experts say that this time there is no possibility of lockdown like situations because now we have learned how to handle Coronavirus. Most of the people have been vaccinated and there is no threat to the lives of the larger community.

China’s instances insist not imposing lockdown
If we refer to the circumstances of China, the government there had imposed strict restrictions. As a result, the public was upset and as soon as the government lifted the lockdown, a large number of deaths began. The lesson learned from the incident in China is that sometimes natural immunity to bear with corona virus is also necessary for a large population. In India, a large part of the population has been infected with Corona, hence they have developed immunity in case of re-infection.

What is the latest initiative of the government
In view of the increasing cases of Corona, the Telangana government has taken immediate steps and issued instructions to all the hospitals to remain on alert. The Telangana government is also taking the Central Government’s advisory seriously regarding the new JN.1 sub variant. In Telangana, the Director of Civil Health and Family Welfare Department has organized a press conference and made wearing of masks mandatory in the state. Also, pregnant women, elderly and children have been instructed not to leave their homes unnecessarily.

Especially employees in the age group of 20 to 50 years have been advised to take precautions at the workplace. It has been asked to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet. Patients suffering from hypertension, respiratory or heart disease, BP etc. have been advised to take special precautions.

Possibility to impose lockdown is negligible
At present, there are no circumstances of lockdown in Hyderabad or Telangana. Even if a large number of people get infected in Hyderabad, the medical infrastructure in state is better than before. In the IT sector, work can be done with work from home, but the government will not encourage employers for this at all.
