Nokia is said to be negotiating with Bharti Airtel for a significant deal to supply 5G telecom equipment, helping the Indian operator expand its network. This potential partnership highlights the fierce competition in India’s telecom market, where companies like Nokia, Ericsson and samsung are competing to offer advanced 5G solutions and increase their market share.

Sources indicate that Nokia is in talks for a multi-billion dollar with Airtel to supply 5G equipment. This agreement if important as Airtel works to enhance its network throughout India.

The proposed contract would include Nokia’s advanced AirScale mobile radios, which can easily upgrade current network to 5G-advanced while also reducing energy costs.

India is a crucial player in the 5G rollout with major telecom companies like Airtel, Vodafone Idea And Reliance Jio making significant investments to upgrade their network.

While India supported Nokia and Ericsson in offsetting declining demand from the U.S. last year (2023) the volume of orders has decreased sharply after an intial spike in growth.
