Commonwealth Games:
On August 1, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated weightlifter Achinta Sheuli on winning gold in the men’s 73 kg final at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.
“We are overjoyed that the talented Achinta Sheuli won a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games.” He is well-known for his calm demeanour and tenacity. He has worked extremely hard to achieve this honour. “I wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” Prime Minister Modi said.
In an earlier interaction with the Indian contingent for the CWG games in 2022, PM Modi stated that he hopes the gold medalist now has time to watch a film. In the video, PM Modi is seen questioning Sheuli about her composed demeanour and how the aspiring actor is unable to see films due to his hectic schedule.
Later, the prime minister says that once the young athlete returns with a gold medal, he will have plenty of time to entertain himself and can go to the movies.
PM Modi tweeted about the conversation, saying, “Before our contingent left for the Commonwealth Games, I interacted with Achinta Sheuli.” We had talked about how much help he got from his mother and brother. I also hope he has time to watch a movie now that he has a medal.”
