Cloudburst Near Amarnath Cave
On July 8, 2022, around 5:30 p.m., a cloudburst was observed near Amarnath. The cloud burst was seen in the lowest parts of Amarnath cave. Authorities worry that some pilgrims have died.
The following developments are listed:
- According to various news outlets, the NDRF, SDRF, and other relevant organisations are conducting rescue efforts.
- Water entered the cave from above after heavy rains in the upper portions. According to accounts, the rain has temporarily halted.
- As of today, five people have perished as a result of the cloud burst, and their remains have been found.
- Following the cloudburst, 25 tents and two langars were allegedly carried away by flash waters.
- The injured are being rescued by a chopper, according to the news agency ANI.

- We have taken a few injured individuals to the hospital, according to J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh.
- Home Minister Amit Shah and J&K LG Manoj Sinha discussed the issue after the event.
- In a Tweet, Amit Shah proclaimed: “I spoke with LG Manoj Sinha and asked him about the flash flood that was brought on by a cloudburst close to Baba Amarnath’s cave. The rescue effort is being conducted by the NDRF, CRPF, BSF, and local government. We put a high focus on saving lives. All of the followers are well, I hope.”
