Toshiba TTDI delivers India’s first 220kV Mobile GIS to POWERGRID

Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd. (TTDI) has delivered India’s first indigenously built 220kV Mobile Gas-Insulated Switchgear (m-GIS) System to Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID).

The system was flagged off from TTDI’s manufacturing facility at Rudraram, Telangana, in the presence of Shri Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra (Director-Projects), Shri Rajil Srivastava (ED-Asset Management), and Shri Abhay Kumar (CGM-I/C Engineering).

Make in India Milestone

The 220kV m-GIS has been designed and manufactured entirely in India, meeting POWERGRID’s operational and quality standards.
It enables fast grid restoration, temporary power evacuation, and substation expansion with minimal setup time.
Moreover, its “Connect–Disconnect–Redeploy” design allows rapid mobility and flexible operations, strengthening grid resilience.
