TATA’s Indica is 25 Years old

The Tata Indica a compact hatchback car that was first introduced in India in 1998 is now 25 years old. In his, Instagram account, Mr Ratan Tata said “Twenty-five years ago, the launching of the Tata Indica was the birth of India’s indigenous passenger car industry. It brings back fond memories and has a special place in my heart for me,” Tata wrote on his Instagram post as he shared a throwback of him posing with the car.

Famed as the first true indigenously designed Indian passenger car it was fuel efficient and strong for the rugged Indian terrain. It was initially offered on a 1.4-liter diesel engine and later a 1.2-liter petrol engine. During the past 25 years, the car underwent changes. Its manufacture was discontinued in 2020 and Tata brought Tiago its place.
