Great Lakes Institute of Management:
On July 28, 2022, The Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai hosted its first Corporate Day event for the academic year 2022-23 at its Chennai campus.
Corporate Day, a one-of-a-kind concept devised by the Corporate & Career Services (CCS) team in collaboration with the Placement Committee, aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia through corporate collaborations. The goal is not only to train students in their chosen field of specialisation, but also to broaden their horizons and provide them with the necessary skills to excel in any organisation that they join. As part of this initiative, Bain Capability Network is the first company to visit the Chennai campus.
The event began with a welcome address by members of the placement committee, followed by the invocation song, lamp lighting ceremony, and Ponadai ceremony.
During the event, dignitaries from the company participated in a round of discussions and business case simulations with the students.
Mr. Manish Goyal, Vice President, of Bain Capability Network, shared his insights on how to pursue a career in consulting and answered all student questions.
While addressing students, Dr. Balaji, Group Director, Corporate & Career Services, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, stated, “The problems that you will encounter are not designed to be brainteasers, but rather to reflect the challenges that clients face.” This method is preferable because we can discuss and come up with solutions based on the client’s work. Case study learning is a significant method for gaining experiential learning.”
Mr. Deepesh Dua, Director, and Mr. Ashish Prasad, Senior Manager, Consumer Products & Retail, both Great Lakes Alumni working with Bain Capability Network, spearheaded the event. They assisted students in understanding the importance of a strategic approach during case studies and how to arrive at relevant solutions.
The session was followed by a Q&A session in which the speakers answered all of the student’s questions about the consulting industry, life at Bain, challenges and hurdles encountered along the way, and so on.
