In a groundbreaking development for Indian sports and education, Woxsen University and SixS Sports have joined hands to launch India’s first Brain Training Lab for athletes. This pioneering initiative integrates cutting-edge sports science, cognitive training, and education, setting a new standard for athlete development in India.
On 2nd May 2025, Woxsen University welcomed MSK Prasad, former Indian cricketer and ex-BCCI chief selector, to mark this historic moment. His visit included a tour of the Woxsen Sports Academy, culminating in the signing of an MOU between Woxsen University, MSK Prasad’s International Cricket Academy, and SixS Sports.
This collaboration represents a unique fusion of sports science, technology, and education, aimed at preparing athletes not just physically, but mentally and academically for the global stage.

Why a Brain Training Lab?
In sports today, it’s not just about physical strength. Mental fitness is the real game-changer. Whether it’s sharper focus, faster reaction times, or making split-second decisions under pressure, an athlete’s mind can be the difference between winning and losing.
That’s exactly what the Brain Training Lab at Woxsen aims to build. By blending neuroscience and cognitive training with physical sports performance, this lab helps athletes:
1. Improve focus and attention
2. React faster in high-stakes situations
3. Make better decisions under pressure
As MSK Prasad put it,
“Sports isn’t just physical—it’s an attitude, a battle within yourself.”
And that battle? It’s being fought in the brain as much as the body.
Here’s a quick tour of what’s inside:
Motion Capture by Xsens – This tracks human movement in 3D, capturing everything from subtle muscle actions to explosive athletic motions. It’s accurate whether inside the lab or out on the field.
Smart Plantar Pressure Insoles by Moticon – These high-tech insoles track foot pressure and gait right inside an athlete’s shoe—no lab visit required.
Surface Electromyography (EMG) by Delsys – This measures how muscles are working during training or rehab, helping coaches and athletes understand performance and recovery better.
In short, it’s like having a team of scientists working behind the scenes to fine-tune every step, jump, and movement an athlete makes.
Sporting legends show their support
The launch wasn’t just about fancy tech—it brought together some of India’s biggest names in sports who see this as a much-needed shift.
Anju Bobby George, Olympian and World Athletics medallist, shared her excitement:
“This gives kids a chance to balance sports and education. We’re offering them something we never had growing up.”
Pullela Gopichand, All England champion and founder of Gopichand Academy, called it a vital initiative:
“We’re finally addressing the need for mentorship and backup plans for athletes. This collaboration can change the game for India’s sports ecosystem.”
And MSK Prasad summed it up beautifully:
“Physical literacy—combining education with sports—is the way forward.”
It’s rare to see such alignment across icons from different sports, but this initiative seems to have struck a chord.
Beyond medals: Building well-rounded athletes
This partnership is more than a training facility—it’s a blueprint for nurturing balanced athletes who won’t have to choose between their education and their passion for sports.
For too long, Indian athletes have faced a tough choice: pursue sports and risk falling behind academically, or focus on studies and give up their athletic dreams.
With this initiative, they won’t have to pick sides. Woxsen and SixS are offering:
>Flexible academic support for athletes
> Access to world-class sports science
> Mental health and cognitive wellness resources
>Mentorship from India’s top athletes
As Antony Chacko, CEO of SixS Sports, put it:
“We want kids to enjoy sports, stay healthy, avoid burnout, and still get a great education. This is how we’ll build tomorrow’s Olympic champions.”
Woxsen University: Leading from the front
Woxsen University isn’t new to bold ideas. Known for its stunning 200-acre campus and home to Asia’s largest sports infrastructure, Woxsen has already made waves with its global partnerships and rankings.
Here are just a few recent milestones:
>Ranked #9 in India by QS Business Masters World Rankings 2025
>Named among Top 100 B-Schools by Times B-School Rankings 2025
>Top 3 in India for Design and Architecture programs
Their approach is simple: mix academics, technology, and real-world skills to create future-ready leaders—whether in business, tech, or now, sports.
A future that’s more than medals
With the launch of India’s first Brain Training Lab for athletes, Woxsen and SixS are building something deeper than a medal tally. They’re creating a support system where athletes can chase their dreams without sacrificing their education, health, or future.
This initiative recognizes that every athlete’s journey comes with highs and lows—and equips them to handle both. It’s about building champions on the field, and capable, confident individuals off it.
In a world where so many young athletes are forced to choose between scoring points and passing exams, this partnership says: why not both?
India’s sporting future looks brighter—and smarter—because of it.
