Vinesh Phogat Disqualified: On Tuesday, India was very happy and excited, because Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the Olympics final by defeting Yui Susaki. But on Wednesday India got a Shocking news that Phogat was disqualified from the Olympics after being found overweight.
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in Lak Sabha, ”wrestler Vinesh Phogat disqualified from 50 kg category Olympics event after being 100 gm overweight. Indian Olympic Association registerd strong protest with United World Wrestling over Phogat disqualification.”
Indian Olympics Association (IOA) president PT Usha said, ”Vinesh’s disqualification is very shocking. I met her at the Olympic Village clinic and assured her of complete support from the IOA, the government of India and the whole country. we are providing Vinesh all medical and emotional support.”
PM Modi wrote in a post on X -” Vinesh you are a champion among champions. you are India’s pride and an inspiration for each and every Indian. Today’s setback hurts. I wish words could express the sense of despair that I am experiencing. at same time I know that you epitomise resilience. it has always been your nature to take challenges head on. come back stronger! we are all rooting for you.”
