Telangana Invests ₹54,000 Cr to Become Global Life Sciences Hub

Telangana is fast emerging as a global powerhouse in life sciences, attracting more than ₹54,000 crore in fresh investments since 2024. Hyderabad now ranks among the Top 7 life sciences clusters worldwide, the only Indian city on the list.

The state’s strong policies, modern infrastructure, and global partnerships have fueled growth in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, cell and gene therapy, vaccines, medical devices, and digital health. As a result, these investments will create over 2 lakh jobs in high-demand areas such as sterile injectables, biologics, biosimilars, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and advanced medical services.

Telangana’s Policy Push

At the Telangana Life Sciences Board Meeting, chaired by Shri D. Sridhar Babu, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, leaders from industry and government reviewed progress. The Minister stressed:

With more than 2,000 companies operating here, Hyderabad’s global recognition is the outcome of forward-looking policies, strong infrastructure, and abundant talent. This reflects our vision to build a knowledge-driven economy.”

World-Class Life Sciences University

The Minister also announced plans to develop the upcoming Telangana School of Life Sciences as a world-class university. It will feature advanced labs, state-of-the-art research facilities, and training programs that aim to produce top talent and foster innovation. Consequently, Telangana will further solidify its global leadership in this field.

  • Over 250 USFDA-approved sites – the highest in the world
  • More than 20 Life Sciences & MedTech incubators driving R&D and startups

  • Already home to 8 of the top 10 global pharma companies (moving toward 10/10 soon)

Mr. Shakthi Nagappan, CEO, Telangana Lifesciences, noted:
