Tata Group to Create 5 Lakh New Jobs in 5 Years, Construction of Seven New Manufacturing Plants Begins
Tata Group is planning to create over 500,000 new manufacturing jobs in the next five years through its various projects. The jobs will be generated through investments in the group’s factories and projects across India, focusing on new-age products such as batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles, solar equipment, and other critical hardware. Apart from manufacturing jobs, Tata Group will also create employment opportunities in sectors like retail, tech services, airlines, and hospitality.
The construction of over seven new manufacturing plants has already begun, including India’s first semiconductor plant in Dholera, Gujarat, and a new semiconductor OSAT plant in Assam. Additional projects include electronics assembly plants in Narsapura, Karnataka, automotive plants in Pannapakkam, Tamil Nadu, and an MRO plant in Bangalore, Karnataka. The group is also establishing new battery cell manufacturing factories in Gujarat’s Sanand and Somerset, UK.
Tata Group has also made strides in AI and manufacturing sectors, with significant potential for indirect job opportunities, especially in semiconductor manufacturing. Chandra Shekharan emphasized the exciting prospects these sectors hold for economic growth and social progress, noting that global supply chains are shifting their base to India.
