The fortnightly celebrations of Swachhta Pakhwada, focusing on promoting awareness for a clean and sustainable environment, commenced today at SRHQ Kavadiguda. Shri KS Sundaram, Director (Projects), inaugurated the event and led the assembled employees in taking the Swachhta Pledge at the Atrium, accompanied by senior Heads of Departments. Shri SN Panigrahi, GM-HR, reinforced the commitment by reading the pledge in Hindi.
In his address, Shri KS Sundaram emphasized NTPC’s significant contributions to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, particularly highlighting the construction of toilets across various locations in India. He stressed that maintaining cleanliness is a habit that should be integrated into our daily lives, regardless of where we are. “Swachh living is a practice to be inculcated in our daily life, and we must abide by it irrespective of any place or location,” Sundaram stated, underscoring the importance of personal responsibility in achieving a cleaner India.
Adding an interactive and engaging element to the celebrations, a selfie booth was installed at the venue. Employees were encouraged to take selfies and share them on social media using the hashtags #ntpc and #swachhtapakhwada2024. This initiative aims to leverage social media’s reach to spread awareness and inspire others to participate in the cleanliness drive.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all employees, along with members of the Ladies Club and children from Bal Bhawan. Their involvement highlights the inclusive nature of the Swachhta Pakhwada celebrations, which aim to instill the values of cleanliness and sustainability across all age groups and community segments.
Throughout the fortnight, NTPC plans to conduct several events and initiatives to keep the momentum of the Swachhta Pakhwada alive. These include competitions, seminars on waste management, and practical demonstrations on how to maintain cleanliness in public and private spaces. The objective is to not only raise awareness but also to provide practical knowledge and tools that individuals can use to contribute to a cleaner environment.
The Swachhta Pakhwada celebrations at SRHQ Kavadiguda are a testament to NTPC’s ongoing commitment to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. By engaging employees and the community in these initiatives, NTPC aims to foster a culture of cleanliness and sustainability that can be passed on to future generations. This event marks the beginning of a series of activities that will continue to promote the values of Swachhta and contribute to the national mission of a cleaner, greener India.
