In a significant legal victory, Omics International Private Limited (OIPL), part of the Pulsus Group, has successfully overturned a ₹10 crore income tax demand. The National Faceless Appeal Centre (NFAC) ruled that the demand lacked legal standing and had been raised without proper notice.
This decision ends a taxing three-year legal battle and brings major relief to the global publishing house.
Justice Delivered After 3-Year Struggle
The tax department had issued the demand ex-parte, without giving OIPL a chance to respond. NFAC flagged this as a violation of natural justice. It stated that authorities must provide adequate opportunity before making such assessments.
A Pulsus Group spokesperson welcomed the verdict:
“This win reaffirms our belief in India’s legal framework. It also highlights the need for fair tax practices.”
They urged the CBDT and Finance Ministry to improve procedural checks, especially for companies operating in high-value sectors like scientific publishing.
