Nuclear Agreement Signed on October 8, 2008

In July 2005, during a visit to the US, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh convinced then-President George W. Bush to agree on the nuclear deal. In March 2006, when US President George W. Bush visited India, the two countries signed the historic agreement. On October 8, 2008, President George Bush formally signed the deal. After this deal, India’s access to the global nuclear market opened up, but the agreements made for setting up new reactors have not been implemented yet.
