NMDC IIT Kanpur MoU
NMDC and IIT Kanpur sign MoU to boost cybersecurity, AI adoption, and digital innovation across NMDC’s operations through joint research and training.

NMDC, India’s largest iron ore producer, has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Kanpur to strengthen cybersecurity and speed up the use of modern digital technologies across its operations. The collaboration will support advanced work in AI, Machine Learning, and digital risk management.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Satyendra Rai, Executive Director (Digital Transformation), NMDC, and Prof. Ashoke De, Dean, R&D, IIT Kanpur. Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, senior NMDC leaders, and faculty members from IIT Kanpur were also present.

Under this partnership, NMDC and IIT Kanpur will work together in several key areas:

Poultary
  • Cybersecurity risk assessments
  • Policy, governance, and compliance support
  • AI and ML integration
  • Security operations and incident response
  • Capacity building and knowledge sharing
  • Joint research and innovation

They will also run training programmes, conduct research, launch pilot projects, and create proof-of-concept solutions for real-world challenges.

Speaking about this collaboration, Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC, said:
“This MoU brings IIT Kanpur’s advanced research into NMDC’s large operational ecosystem. With this collaboration, we will strengthen our digital security, improve operational intelligence, and build a secure and future-ready foundation for NMDC.”
