The Millet Udyami Bharath 2025 conference officially began at Minerva Halls, bringing together over 140 participants from 25 states. This five-day event is focused on building a strong network of millet health ambassadors and entrepreneurs across India.

Celebrating Health and Sustainability on the Eve of International Yoga Day

This national program was launched on the eve of International Yoga Day, highlighting the link between wellness and nutrition. Organized by the Millets National Media Portal (www.millets.news), the conference aims to promote millet cultivation, consumption, and entrepreneurship.

During the inauguration, Mr. Prasanna Srinivas Sarakadam, Chairman of the portal, stressed the growing importance of millet education.

“Our portal provides answers to thousands of millet-related health questions. Anyone interested in becoming a millet expert can connect with us,” he said.

Experts Lead the Charge on Millet Innovation

The five-day conference features a stellar lineup of experts and mentors who are shaping India’s millet movement. Some of the key highlights include:

  • Mr. Tapas Chandra Roy, Agricultural Officer from the Government of Odisha, training participants on scientific millet cultivation.
  • Mr. Jagannath Chinnari, a millet entrepreneur from Jaipur, conducting hands-on workshops for food processing and value addition.
  • A two-day advanced millet training program hosted by the Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), featuring:
    • Dr. J. Stanely, CEO of Nutrihub, speaking on millet innovation and agri-startup incubation.
    • Smt. Akita Upadhyay, offering insights on millet product development.
  • Dr. Monica Sravanthi, from the HNA Council, leading sessions on public health, lifestyle diseases, and the role of millets in preventive care.
  • From Farmers to Foodpreneurs: A Community of Millet Champions
  • Each of the 25 participating states nominated four representatives, forming a diverse mix of farmers, nutritionists, health professionals, and entrepreneurs. This structure fosters cross-disciplinary learning and creates a strong network of future millet ambassadors who will take the learnings back to their states and drive regional change.
  • The program also facilitates networking, experience-sharing, and direct interaction with experts—something that many participants hailed as “life-changing.”

From Farmers to Foodpreneurs: A Community of Millet Champions
