India’s space agency, ISRO, successfully launched the European satellite Probe-3. The launch was delayed on Wednesday due to a technical issue but was rescheduled and completed today. This mission, a collaboration between India and Europe, highlights India’s growing role in global space exploration. The satellite was placed into orbit about 20 minutes after launch.
ISRO shared on X, ”The PSLV-C59/PROBA-3 Mission reflects the dedication of NSIl, ISRO,and ESA teams. This achievements highlights India’s critical role in enabling global space innovation.”
Know about Proba-3 Mission
The Proba-3 mission consists of two satellites, Coronagraph (310 kg) and Occulter (240 Kg), designed to study the sun’s outer atmosphere, the Corona. These satellites will work in close formation to observe space weather.
This mission builds on ISRO’s previous Aditya-L1 launch in 2023. Proba-3 demonstrates the satellites ability to operate together. The PSLV-C59 rocket, marking its 61st flight, will carry them intl orbit, which will take about 18 minutes. In space, the satellites will maintain a 150-meter distance, with the occulter blocking the sun’s light for the coronagraph to study the atmosphere.
