No Parking on ORR Awareness Campaign

IRB Golconda Expressway Pvt. Ltd., the concessionaire of Hyderabad’s Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR), has launched a month-long safety drive titled ‘No Parking on ORR’. The initiative is a joint effort with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Traffic Police, and Hyderabad Growth Corridor Ltd. (HGCL). It aims to make the 158-km expressway a ‘Zero Fatality Corridor’ and to remind motorists that parking anywhere on ORR is dangerous and illegal.

No Parking on ORR Awareness Campaign

The ‘No Parking on ORR’ campaign urges every driver to understand one simple truth — Parking is Unsafe on ORR. The expressway allows uninterrupted travel at up to 120 km/h, yet many accidents have been linked to vehicles stopped on shoulders or emergency lanes. Heavy trucks and lorries parked without hazard lights or reflectors often create fatal blind spots for fast-moving vehicles.

To address this, the partners will run digital and on-ground awareness drives across major entry and exit points. Truck operators, logistics firms, and private vehicle owners will receive safety training and printed advisories.

Officials Call for Responsible Driving on Outer Ring Road

Speaking at the launch, the Chief General Manager of HGCL said,

“The Outer Ring Road is meant for smooth, high-speed transit — not for stopping or parking. Many accidents we investigate are caused by vehicles parked illegally on the shoulders. Together with IRB Golconda Expressway and the Traffic Police, we will strengthen enforcement and public education. Even a momentary stop on the ORR can cost lives.”

The Director of IRB Golconda Expressway Pvt. Ltd. added,

“The ORR is a symbol of Hyderabad’s growth and efficiency. However, illegal parking creates avoidable risk. This campaign will save lives and spread awareness that no vehicle should park on the ORR except during real emergencies.”

Oil Marketing Companies Join the Safety Drive

Supporting the movement, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) will display ‘No Parking on ORR’ and ‘No Fuel on ORR’ boards at nearby fuel stations. These messages will remind motorists before they enter the expressway. The campaign also reinforces the ‘No Entry for Two and Three Wheelers on ORR’ rule to enhance public awareness and compliance.

Creating a Zero Fatality Corridor

Through consistent education and enforcement, IRB Golconda Expressway and its partners aim to transform the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road into a Zero Fatality Corridor. Most ORR accidents are preventable through simple discipline: obeying speed limits, using emergency lanes only when necessary, and never parking on the highway.
