Indian Immunologicals hosts anti-rabies vaccine drive on World Zoonosis Day 2022

In honour of World Zoonosis Day 2022, Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL), a prominent vaccine maker, hosted a statewide free vaccination camp against zoonotic illnesses today. Zoonotic illnesses are diseases that spread from animals to humans. Every year on July 6th, World Zoonosis Day commemorates the first zoonotic sickness immunisation. It is extremely important in teaching and creating awareness about zoonotic illnesses. Every year, IIL takes delight in providing the public with this humane service of mass immunisation.

Today, Indian Immunologicals has given out 1 lac doses of Raksharab and Starvac R (IIL’s anti-rabies vaccinations) for free in order to achieve its mission of ‘One health,’ a collaborative endeavour towards optimal health for people and animals through its revolutionary healthcare products. According to the State of the World’s Forests 2022 study, India might be a hotspot for zoonotic viral infections. Rabies, Swine Flu, Nipah, Brucellosis, Leptospirosis, Porcine Cysticercosis, Zika, and other developing illnesses that infect people are zoonotic in origin. In order to combat the spread of such zoonotic diseases, IIL’s vaccination camp was expanded to 100 cities around the country via veterinary pharmacies, veterinary universities, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Indian Immunologicals hosts massive Anti-rabies vaccine drive on World Zoonosis Day 2022Since antiquity, zoonotic illnesses such as rabies have posed a threat to human health. Dogs are the leading cause of human rabies mortality, accounting for up to 99 percent of all rabies transmissions to people. India is endemic for rabies, accounting for 36% of global mortality. The true burden of rabies is unknown, but according to existing data, it kills between 18000 and 20000 people each year. Rabies is killing adult males and children, mostly in rural regions, because to a lack of knowledge about effective post-exposure vaccination. Vaccination of dogs has helped some countries minimize the incidence of rabies-related human deaths. Awareness, proper diagnosis, improved hygienic conditions, and prophylactic immunisation is all necessary steps to limit/eradicate transmission.

Anand Kumar, Managing Director of Indian Immunologicals Limited, stated on World Zoonosis Day, “It is the mission of IIL as a genuinely One Health firm to offer cost-efficient vaccines in both animal and human health.” We hope to raise awareness about the disease and the need to control it through our “Anti-Rabies vaccination push.” Apart from Raksharab and Starvac R, IIL offers the most comprehensive spectrum of zoonotic vaccines in the nation, including CYSVAX and Bruvax, among others, and we are continually developing additional vaccines to address increasing zoonotic concerns.”

Indian Immunologicals hosts massive Anti-rabies vaccine drive on World Zoonosis Day 2022Indian Immunologicals Limited (a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board) is a major producer of biologicals. The firm has developed low-cost vaccinations for Indian customers through research. IIL remains the country’s largest maker of animal rabies vaccine (Raksharab) and human rabies vaccine (Abhayrab). CYSVAX, developed by IIL, is the world’s first vaccination for porcine cysticercosis. Cysticercosis is a major zoonotic illness that is thought to be a major cause of epilepsy in humans. Vaccinating pigs against porcine cysticercosis can help lower the incidence of epilepsy in humans dramatically.
