Hyderabad's Chandrayangutta flyover to be thrown open to public soon

Chandrayangutta flyover to be thrown open:

The long-delayed repairs to the Chandrayangutta flyover have now been finished, and it will soon be opened to traffic, providing huge relief to commuters in Hyderabad’s Old City. The proposal to extend the flyers from their original length of 480 metres between the local junction and Srisailam road to 500 metres was approved by the GHMC Standing Committee in order to reduce traffic and improve road connectivity.

The projects were started in 2017–18 as part of the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP), Phase II, at an estimated cost of ’40 crore. The flyover is now one km long overall thanks to the extension work that was done. The Covid-19 pandemic, however, as well as a lack of coordination between the Water Board and TSSPDCL in the clearing of sewage pipelines and electric wires, caused the works to be delayed.

To reduce traffic at the junction, Chandrayangutta’s four-lane existing grade separator had to be extended. The project involved constructing the Omer Hotel junction at the end of the flyover, which is located between Barkas Road and Kandikal Gate. Every day, there is heavy traffic on the Chandrayangutta route as people travelling to their offices in the IT corridor use it. These commuters will experience significantly less travel time once the flyover is officially opened.

Officials with the GHMC claim that the flyover is ready for inauguration and that all civil work has been finished.

It was discovered that once he recovers from the ankle injury, IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao will inaugurate it. The GHMC would concentrate on finishing the work on service roads under the bridge after the flyover was inaugurated. “Because it is a busy route, finishing the work on the service roads became challenging. However, following the official opening, flyover traffic will be permitted and service road construction will proceed, according to a GHMC representative.
