GHMC begins distribution of national flags:
On August 9, 2022, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) launched a campaign to distribute national flags to homes throughout the city. Under the state government’s ‘Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsava Dwi Saptaham’ initiative, the corporation will distribute approximately 20 lakh flags throughout the city.
The flags were distributed in Secunderabad by Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav, GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, and Secunderabad Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy.
Flags were also distributed throughout the city in the presence of elected officials. The Deputy Commissioners of the GHMC have been directed to ensure that tricolours are distributed and hoisted in accordance with the flag code in all houses.
The GHMC is organising a series of events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsava Dwi Saptaham.
Other events planned as part of the celebrations include plantation drives to develop freedom parks, cultural programmes, Kavi Sammelana at the GHMC Head Office, blood donation camps in all zones, and the distribution of fruits and sweets at night shelters.
The following is a schedule of events:
August 10- Planting of saplings in 75 identified open spaces for the development of Freedom Parks.
August 11- Freedom Run.
August 12- Raksha Bandhan, Jateeya Samiksha.
August 13- Ward-level rallies.
August 14- Pradarshini Janapada Kalakarula.
August 15- Independence Day celebrations.
August 16-Singing of the National Anthem and Kavi Sammelanam at a predetermined time in the GHMC Headquarters.
August 17- Blood donation camps will be set up in all GHMC Zones.
August 18- Freedom Cup Sports Tournament for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation employees and youth.
August 19- Fruits and sweets are distributed at the GHMC night shelter.
August 20- Rangoli was made by female GHMC employees on the theme of patriotism.
August 21- The GHMC General Body held a special meeting.
