Design Democracy 2025 Hyderabad

India’s premier design and architecture festival, Design Democracy 2025, opened today at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad. The three-day event, running until September 7, brings together 120+ leading brands, 80+ speakers, and 15,000+ expected visitors, making it one of the largest celebrations of design, craft, and creativity in South Asia.

A Global Platform for Indian Design

The festival was inaugurated by eminent dignitaries including philanthropist Pinky Reddy, Mr. Gummi Ram Reddy (CMD, ARK Group and Secretary, CREDAI National), and Gagandeep Kalsi (AVP – Strategy and Home Decor, Asian Paints), alongside the festival’s founders Pallika Sreewastav, Shailja Patwari, and Arjun Rathi.

Attendees can explore an expansive showcase of furniture, lighting, home furnishings, and fine art, structured into three immersive pavilions—Atelier, Canvas, and Muse—each blending craft, culture, and innovation into sensorial experiences.

Knowledge Sharing and Inspiration

The intellectual core of the festival, DD Talks, features two days of keynotes and panels with leading voices such as Reza Kabul, Pavitra Rajaram, Sussanne Khan, and Akshat Bhatt. Discussions will span urgent themes including climate resilience, circular economies, and cultural storytelling.

Complementing the main stage, DD Focus offers smaller, in-depth dialogues with India’s design leaders, giving audiences rare insights into their creative journeys.

Curated Exhibitions

A highlight of Design Democracy 2025 is its curated galleries and spatial interventions, including:

  • Museum of Telangana (MOT): Stone and Shade, curated by Supraja Rao, explores architecture rooted in India’s climate.
  • Gallery of Sustainability: Co-curated by Abin Chaudhuri and Snehashri Nandi, it spotlights conscious design practices shaping a sustainable future.
  • Precious Objects: Curated by Farah Ahmed, this gallery celebrates craftsmanship through objects that blend beauty and meaning.
  • FLOW: A site-wide intervention by Nuru Karim (Nudes), transforming the exhibition into a living narrative of movement and space.

Founders’ Vision

Festival founders Shailja Patwari, Pallika Sreewastav, and Arjun Rathi shared:
“Our goal with Design Democracy is to create a platform that fosters authentic connections in the design ecosystem. Hyderabad’s dynamic growth makes it the perfect home. We believe design is the silent language of beauty that transforms spaces from functional to emotional, and this festival is a celebration of that power.”

The festival is made possible by strong industry partnerships. The Charcoal Project leads as Title Sponsor, with Beautiful Homes by Asian Paints as Platinum Sponsor. ANCA and Bondtite join as Gold Sponsors, alongside Associate Sponsors including FIMA, Osum, Dimore, Tabu Veneers, MCI, and West Elm.
