TATA.ev, India’s leading four-wheeler EV manufacturer, has set a new benchmark in electric mobility by recording the fastest EV drive from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Covering an impressive 3,823 km in just 76 hours and 35 minutes, the Curvv.ev SUV Coupe surpassed the previous record by more than 19 hours. This groundbreaking journey not only highlights the rapid evolution of EV technology but also showcases India’s expanding public charging network, making long-distance EV travel more convenient than ever before.
A Milestone Achievement in Electric Mobility
The remarkable journey of the Curvv.ev commenced with a ceremonial flag-off in Srinagar by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Omar Abdullah, at 4:00 AM on February 25, 2025. The electric SUV navigated through diverse terrains, extreme weather conditions, and India’s growing public charging network, finally reaching Kanyakumari at 8:35 AM on February 28, 2025. Upon arrival, the Curvv.ev was warmly received by Thiru. Vijay Vasanth, Member of Parliament, Kanyakumari.
Setting 20 national records during the drive, the Curvv.ev further solidified TATA.ev’s leadership in the Indian EV landscape. The feat was achieved with just 16 charging stops, with the total charging time reduced from 28 hours in the previous record to only 17 hours. This milestone underscores the advancements in battery technology and the proliferation of fast-charging stations across India’s highways.

A Word from TATA.ev Leadership
Commenting on this historic achievement, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., stated:
“We embarked on this non-stop journey to demonstrate how effortless, efficient, and comfortable long intercity drives can be with an EV. The Curvv.ev, powered by the innovative acti.ev pure EV architecture and a 55 kWh battery, ensured a smooth and fatigue-free endurance challenge. With India’s public charging infrastructure now exceeding 18,000 charging points, we witnessed seamless charging experiences across every district in the 10 states and union territories we traversed. This remarkable journey proves that a Tata EV can rival ICE-powered vehicles in terms of long-distance travel while maximizing comfort and cost efficiency. The ability to beat our own record by 19 hours is a testament to the maturity of EV technology and infrastructure. We hope this showcase will instill confidence among potential customers and encourage widespread adoption of zero-emission mobility.”
Key Developments in India’s EV Charging Infrastructure
- Optimized Route Planning: Compared to the 4,004 km journey required in 2023 due to limited charging stations, the Curvv.ev’s record-breaking drive covered only 3,823 km. This was made possible by a denser network of charging stations, reducing unnecessary diversions.
- Exponential Growth in Charging Infrastructure: India now boasts over 18,000 chargers, marking a 227% improvement since 2023. The inclusion of high-powered 60-120 kW chargers has significantly enhanced charging speeds.
- Improved Accessibility on National Highways: 85% of national highways now feature fast chargers every 50 km, making long-distance EV travel more convenient.
- Smart Charging Integration: The iRA.ev app played a pivotal role in streamlining the journey. With access to over 12,000 charging points, the app facilitated efficient route planning, vehicle insights, and real-time charge point aggregations.
- ev Verified Charger Program: This initiative ensures reliable charging by evaluating charging stations based on performance, availability of basic amenities, and accessibility.
- TATA.ev Unified RFID Card: Simplifying the charging process, this card eliminates the dependency on multiple apps by enabling seamless access to various charge point operators (CPOs) without requiring an internet connection.
