Over 600 students from Cal Public School, Kapra learned Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in a unique workshop organized by Freemasons Lodge Keys No. 297. The event aimed to teach students how to act quickly in emergencies and save lives.
Cal Public School Hands-On Training
The training was led by Dr Srirang Abkari, Senior General Physician, and supported by experts Dr. Chaitanya, Dr. Ashok Kumar, and Dr. Vijayananda from the International Trauma Centre, Hyderabad.
During the session, students practised CPR using mannequins. They learned the “ABC” method — Airway, Breathing, Circulation — and how to give 100 to 120 chest compressions per minute. In addition, trainers explained how to check for safety, call 108 for help, and handle choking situations calmly.
Young Hearts, Big Questions

Students asked many thoughtful questions. Some wanted to know, “What if I press too hard and break ribs?” or “Can I do CPR on an older person?” These questions showed curiosity and compassion. The doctors praised them for their maturity and eagerness to learn.
A Community Effort for a Safer Future
According to Mr. D. Ramachandram, the project lead of Lodge Keys No. 297, only 2% of Indians know how to perform CPR. Therefore, the Freemasons have started the CPR Ambassador Initiative to train 1,000 citizens. This program helps Hyderabad become a city where more people can respond effectively during medical emergencies.
Inspiring Change, One Student at a Time
By the end of the day, every student had gained confidence and a new purpose. They walked away knowing they could help save a life. Cal Public School now joins a small but growing group of institutions in Hyderabad that promote CPR awareness and emergency readiness among students.
Together, they are shaping a generation that values knowledge, empathy, and quick action when it matters most.
