Ashray Akruti, a leading non-profit organisation supporting individuals with disabilities, has been conferred the Mahatma Award 2025 in the category of Social Good and Impact – Non-Profit Organisation. The award, instituted by the Mahatma Foundation and supported by the Aditya Birla Group, recognises changemakers who embody Gandhian values of service, equality, and compassion.
This recognition highlights Ashray Akruti’s transformative work in education, healthcare, and skill development, impacting thousands of children, youth, and women from underprivileged and marginalized communities. Every initiative by the organisation has aimed at fostering inclusion, empowerment, and opportunity, ensuring that every individual has the resources to thrive.
Transformative Impact Across Communities
Ashray Akruti’s work spans multiple social sectors:
- Education: Providing free access to learning for children with disabilities and underprivileged youth.
- Healthcare: Delivering inclusive healthcare services to marginalized communities, enabling a better quality of life.
- Skill Development: Equipping youth with vocational and life skills to foster independence and self-reliance.
“When a child hears their first sound, when a young person with a disability gains confidence to learn, or when a family finds hope where there was once despair — that is where change begins. This award belongs to those children, youth, and families who inspire us every day,” said Mr. D. P. K. Babu, Managing Director, Ashray Akruti.
The award serves not only as recognition of Ashray Akruti’s efforts but also as a tribute to every life touched through their initiatives, reinforcing the organisation’s mission to create inclusive and empowering spaces.
