Andhra Pradesh has signed a ₹9,000 crore MoU with APM Terminals, a Netherlands-based subsidiary of A.P. Moller-Maersk. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the deal will modernize three major ports — Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, and Mulapeta.
Major Investment for Port Growth
APM Terminals will invest ₹9,000 crore to create modern port infrastructure and advanced cargo systems. This project will also create 10,000 direct jobs and many indirect opportunities in logistics and related sectors.
Andhra Pradesh as the Eastern Gateway

With its 1,053 km long coastline, Andhra Pradesh is already a key player in India’s maritime trade. The new projects will make the state the “Eastern Gateway” of India, offering better access to Telangana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Odisha.
Chief Minister Naidu said the partnership would boost shipping, improve exports, and attract more global investment.
Stronger Logistics Network
The plan goes beyond port construction. The state and APM Terminals will also develop a holistic logistics ecosystem. It will connect road, rail, air, and inland waterways, ensuring smooth and cost-effective cargo movement.
Long-Term Vision
The government aims to build a port or harbor every 50 km along the state’s coastline. This vision will help create coastal economic zones, industrial corridors, and urban growth hubs.
A Global Step Forward
The Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board signed the MoU in the presence of senior officials. APM Terminals called it a strategic move to expand in South Asia.
This partnership is expected to transform Andhra Pradesh into a global logistics hub and strengthen India’s position in international trade.
