Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, lauded India’s pharmaceutical accomplishments and future potential at the 73rd Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) 2024 valedictory event.
Serving as the Chief Guest, Minister Reddy praised the collective efforts of numerous pharmaceutical companies and highlighted Hyderabad’s emergence as a global pharmaceutical hub.
Minister Reddy pointed out that approximately 35% of India’s pharmaceutical exports, amounting to 65,000 crores, are directed to the United States, meeting stringent FDA and European standards.
He also emphasized India’s critical role in supplying COVID-19 vaccines worldwide, showcasing the nation’s capability in addressing global health challenges.
Reflecting on India’s economic prowess, Minister Reddy noted that India is currently the world’s fifth-largest economy and is on track to become the third-largest by 2030.
He congratulated all delegates, students, volunteers, and organizers for successfully hosting the three-day IPC, which fostered valuable connections and discussions about the future of the Indian pharmaceutical sector.
Minister Reddy underscored the importance of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which aims to provide accessible healthcare to millions of Indians.
He also announced plans for establishing a Pharma University, reinforcing the government’s commitment to advancing pharmaceutical education and research.
The 73rd IPC brought together experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss advancements in drug discovery, drug design, and medical care initiatives.
The event highlighted India’s significant contributions to global healthcare and its ongoing efforts to innovate and excel in the pharmaceutical industry.
