every young person in India has a dream in their eyes and the passion to fulfill it. This is why India keeps rising to new heights of development every day. Behind this transformation are the contributions of some of India’s top business tycoons, whose work not only led to the country’s growth but also inspired the youth to dream big. Among these business tycoons, today we celebrate the birthdays of two great industrialists, Ratan Tata and Dhirubhai Ambani, who made a name for themselves with their hard work and vision.
Ratan Tata
Just mentioning his name evokes a sense of prosperity and peace. In India, when someone talks about great achievements, people often say, “Consider yourself ‘Tata’.” The Tata name has become synonymous with wealth. While Ratan Tata was wealthy, he was also very generous. He had a deep affection for animals and always strived to improve the lives of common people in India. A perfect example of this is how he designed the Nano car, which was inspired by seeing a family getting soaked in the rain while traveling in a scooter.
In an interview, when he was asked about creating a car for one lakh rupees, he explained, “I saw many Indian families traveling on scooters. People would ride scooters with a child in front, a wife holding another child behind, and all of them would travel on slippery roads in the rain. It was a dangerous journey. I thought, how risky is this for a family? Can we offer them a safer ride?” This led to the decision to create a small, affordable car.
Ratan Tata was also a true patriot. Whenever the country needed him, he stood by with full strength. During the 26/11 attacks, he told security personnel, “After ensuring the safety of all guests, blow up the entire property. Not a single terrorist should escape.” When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, affecting India severely, Ratan Tata was one of the first to offer help. Though he is no longer with us, the nation remembers him on his 87th birthday.
Dhirubhai Ambani
Dhirubhai Ambani revolutionized the Indian textile industry. He played a key role in making India self-reliant in polyester filament yarn production and making it globally competitive. In the 1990s, he ventured into the telecom sector with the goal of providing affordable communication services to all Indians.
Dhirubhai Ambani was also known for being an excellent team leader. He encouraged open communication, where even the smallest employee in his company could approach him and share their concerns. He listened to every employee and solved their problems. Today, on his 92nd birthday, the nation remembers Dhirubhai Ambani, the visionary who helped guide India towards a brighter future.
